Attention, Maine residents! Significant updates are coming to the process of registering vintage cars in our state. Effective soon, all owners of antique autos, motorcycles, classic vehicles, or horseless carriages will need to provide an additional document to complete their registration.

The new requirement is a WEB White Antique Auto Affidavit (MV-65), which is available at Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) branch offices and online. This affidavit is vital to establish the status of your vehicle as an antique and ensure proper registration.

To initiate the registration process, you must first pay excise tax to your municipality. Once the tax has been paid, you can proceed with completing the affidavit and submitting it along with the appropriate registration fees.

Remember that passenger vehicles in Maine are registered annually on a staggered basis, with registrations typically expiring one year from the month of issuance. So, plan accordingly to avoid any lapse in your vehicle's registration status.
