Alexander Zverev Withdraws from Wimbledon Due to Ankle Injury

Three-Time Defending Champion Novak Djokovic Wins Wimbledon Title

Zverev Would Have Been the Second Seed at Wimbledon

Alexander Zverev has withdrawn from Wimbledon due to an ankle injury. The 25-year-old German was scheduled to face Chile's Cristian Garin in the semifinals on Friday, but he announced his withdrawal on Thursday.

Zverev rolled his right ankle during his quarterfinal victory over Carlos Alcaraz on Wednesday. He received medical attention on court and was able to finish the match, but he was clearly in pain.

Zverev is the second top-10 player to withdraw from Wimbledon due to injury. World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev pulled out of the tournament last week with a hernia.

Zverev's withdrawal is a major blow to Wimbledon. He is one of the most popular players on tour and was considered a strong contender for the title. His absence leaves the field wide open.

Djokovic defeated Nick Kyrgios in the final 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) to win his seventh Wimbledon title and 21st Grand Slam title overall.

Djokovic is now one Grand Slam title behind Rafael Nadal's record of 22. He is also the oldest man to win Wimbledon since Roger Federer in 2017.

Kyrgios was playing in his first Grand Slam final. He played well in the first set, but Djokovic was too strong in the end.

Djokovic's victory is a major achievement. He is now one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.
