Michael Olise to Miss Start of Season with Hamstring Injury
Crystal Palace Winger Faces Two-Month Absence
Hodgson Delivers Disappointing News
Crystal Palace has suffered a major setback with the news that winger Michael Olise is expected to be out for two months with a hamstring injury. The injury, which occurred during pre-season training, is a grade three tear, the most serious category of hamstring injury.
Manager Roy Hodgson confirmed the news at a press conference on Tuesday, expressing his disappointment that Olise would miss the start of the new season. "It's a big blow for us because Michael is a very important player for us," said Hodgson. "He's a young player with a lot of potential, and we were looking forward to seeing him continue to develop this season."
Olise, 21, has been a key player for Palace since joining the club from Reading in 2021. He made 26 appearances in the Premier League last season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.
The injury is a major setback for Olise, who was hoping to build on his impressive performances last season. It is also a blow for Palace, who will be without one of their most creative players when the new season begins on August 6.
Hodgson said that Olise will undergo surgery on his hamstring and is expected to be out for around two months. "We'll have to wait and see how his recovery goes, but we're hopeful that he'll be back in action sooner rather than later," said Hodgson.
